Why this film exists

Okay, so technically Global Dynamics: A Robot Doc is not my first “documentary-like” project. When I was in high school, I was a part of the journalism program and we would typically make news package projects such as Urban Birding and Cosplay in Decatur. After doing a lot of matter-of-fact, “newsy” content, I yearned to tell a more cinematic story. I wanted to try things we weren’t typically allowed to do for my school’s news packages, such as “using music” and “going over four minutes of run-time.” I was going to be working as a one man band, so I had to find an interesting subject that also wouldn’t be too out of the way to film. Luckily, there was Decatur High’s robotics team, Global Dynamics.

Reception

Global Dynamics: A Robot Doc was the runner-up in the high school division in the South Georgia Film Festival. It was a finalist for Long Documentary in the Golden Lions Film Festival. It won the Georgia All Features Package for the Georgia Scholastic Press Association and was an Award Winner in the American Youth Film Festival. Along with The Novelist it was officially selected in the All American High School Film Festival, the largest high school film festival in the nation.

Global Dynamics Trailer

I still had to make time relevant content for my journalism class assignment, so I decided to make a trailer for the film. (Spoiler Alert, it gives away the ending.)
