Journal 1: And So It Begins

Foreword (May 15, 2019)
As a part of the Sophomore Project requirement, we needed to keep a constant set of journals throughout the production. The first journal is supposed to introduce your project and give a little background.

The main thing one needs to know about me is that I like to tell stories. More specifically, I like to tell narrative stories. Even more specifically, I like the witty, comedic genre that has heart- warming things in the end. I also like telling stories about myself, especially explaining things like my processes and train of thought.

The thing is, I know what I want to do for this project. I like to plan things out. I've thought a lot about this sophomore project and have been really excited about it for the past year. I hardly go into a project or an essay without a thorough idea of execution, one that I can believe in. I have planned on making a film from the beginning and I plan to follow through. I have even gone as far as to write some specifications the project must have. (Some of the specifications are best- case- scenario, but I can adapt to whatever criteria is necessary.)

Of course, I’m being very ambitious and I knew that from the beginning. However, one thing that I’m taking advantage of is the amount of time we have to do the project. I assume that it’s due in April, which gives me about 7 months (not including April or August). Of course, I don’t know how my project is going to play out exactly, but I’m trying to plan for contingencies, I hope all goes well.

To support me in my goal, the main thing would be encouragement. I might be the stressed I have ever been during these times since I have to tackle two APs and convergence media. When it comes to classes that I am not motivated in (or as much as I am for other things such as the 10th Grade Project), I tend to have a hard time forcing my way through.

My other hobbies include playing tennis and a few video games from time to time. My favorite subjects currently are American Literature, Drama, and Convergence Media (though the class is pretty demanding.) However, I’ve always imagined doing a film project for the sophomore project, one of such (or enough) cinematic quality and production value that I could use the film as a calling card.(Or at least lift my head up in the theater where it plays.) My hope after high school is to become a full time filmmaker working for a production company.

But my main hope is that something comes out of it that I can be proud of.
