Journal 17: Wrapping Pre-Production

January 2, 2016

Script is a go! We have finally moved into the other stages of pre- production! It’s about time! Jack only had a few notes about the script, mainly the ending being too abrupt. We were able to create a new one and I think the story is better for it.

In our meeting, we discussed the different locations necessary (the Adobe Story software was able to arrange it into a helpful list) and the actors. In terms of the locations, our main problem was the Chemistry Classroom. We didn’t know how we were going get it. Jack brought an excellent point in that being a chemistry classroom wasn’t necessary. In our rewrites, we took out the Kinetic Rubber B- Story, so the chemistry classroom wasn’t needed, meaning we could use any classroom. I ask my mom if we could use hers and she said it was fine. Nice! Most of the locations are around Jack’s house which will be simple. I think that we have those down (maybe.)

In the case of actors, Jack and I are still thinking. We  believe we want Carter White and Patrick Russell to play Monty and Maddox. However, we didn’t know who would play whom. I think that Patrick could play either person, I guess it will depend on who Carter wants to play, assuming he wants to be a part of the project. According to Jack, we have Patrick confirmed.

Currently we are starting to perform more of our specific jobs (me being director and Jack being producer.) Right now I am going through the script and labeling all of the elements into specific categories (such as visual effects, sound effects, make- up, practical effects etc.) to make sure we get all of the things we need for the shoot. Jack is going to try to contact the people we discussed for the project (you can see them in a previous journal.) We plan on having a big production meeting Friday January 8th in the Square where we try to work around everybody’s schedule.

We hope to start shooting by the next week. Fingers crossed.
