Journal 15: Dream Team

December 3, 2015

November 24 I showed the second draft to Jack. He tore it to pieces a lot more than I expected.

We are behind. Almost exactly a week behind. It’s December, and we don’t have a completed final draft. I haven’t been able to work on the script recently on the account of making a PSA for convergence and general reading and writing for APUSH. We also shot another TenCast Podcast last Tuesday and I need to edit that. (We had a really good episode, we talked Star Wars for 45 minutes.)

Anyway, I plan (hope) on finishing the script and getting the okay from Jack this weekend (which may be difficult because I will be in Washington, D.C.) and starting to get into serious pre production. Jack and I have begun to talk about our “dream team,” those who will be the cast and crew. Here’s what we’ve come up with:

Derek Walker

Jack Brock

Patrick Russell - Maddox

Thomas Russell

Eric Gluckman -1 Monty

Mayah Kirson

Alyssa Horace

Sierra Little

Mai Allison

Carter White

Angus Pritchard

Crew

Cast

Unconfirmed

Dream Roles

Angus Pritchard- Camera

Alyssa Horace- Slate/ Script Supervisor (checks for continuity)

Carter White- Boom OP (monitor and holds boom pole)

Mayah Kirson- 2nd Boom OP. Lighting/ green screen

Eric Gluckman/ - Monty

Sierra Little/ Mai Allison- Romaine

Patrick Russell- Maddox

Ms. LeDoux/ Ms. Walker- Ms. Richardson

Now that I think about it, it’s hard (incredible) to believe we start shooting next month!

Just as I feared, I think Jack and I are losing focus on the greater project. You can tell because it’s been a while since I’ve made a process journal entry. Right now, I think Jack’s main focus is the podcast and I think I need a way of drawing him back in.

On the brighter side, I’m feeling more confident in being a filmmaker. I’m getting lots of experience in creating and editing (such as the PSA made completely with motion graphics), and three episodes of the TenCast podcast.) I’ve also been doing a share of networking. I met a composer in college who is looking to practice scoring films, being the most recent, but other various people as well besides the ones I originally intended to talk to. I’ve also come up with ideas for my personal YouTube channel. I hope all of these experiences will culminate into a fantastic project. Of course, I’ve got to finish the script.

I’m back from the trip and I’ve gotten absolutely nothing done. I didn’t expect to be so busy. I have a packed week ahead. I have a Convergence story due, an essay to write in Literature about literary merit (what’s that?), and a test to take in APUSH (among the weekly readings.) I doubt I will have time to even look at the script. I am reluctant to leave it to Jack because this project is so precious to me, but it seems like I have no choice.
