Journal 27: February Break

February 16, 2016

Ah, February Break, soo relaxing. This week off has given me lots of time to enjoy myself and kick back. These moments are so rare doing to school year. Lately, I’ve been catching up on movies and TV shows.

But, don’t worry, I’ve also been working.

It’s nice when I can edit at my leisure though. I do say, I haven’t been the quickest on working on the second rough cut, but I think I will have time to finish. I may be cutting it close, though. We are supposed to be working on the trailer soon. The trailer needs some VFX from the film to add interest. To get VFX, I need to work on VFX. To begin working on VFX, I need a complete (as complete as possible) edit.

Maybe I should get a move on.

Anyway seeing the whole project together, I realize there are some ups and downs as the movie progresses. Quality wise that is. I would say the strongest points of the movie is the beginning (but mostly the middle.) I would say the momentum kind of dies at the end. Lots of passing out and feeling sick. It gets kind of cheesy. I say, things looked much different on paper.

Still, it may be unfair to judge. We are still missing like, 10 scenes.

Right now, I’m just going through the edit, taking out the parts that I’m talking. I’m also making notes on cuts and fixes I need to make, so I can go through a second pass and change a couple of things. I hope to have the edit ready for review tomorrow on ProofMe and begin VFX on Thursday.
